FCP P2 import issue

Strangely enough.

I have three FCP stations... all 5.0.4. QTPro 7.0.1. Two running on MAC laptops (1 Power PC, 1 Intel Dual), 1 running on Tower Dual 1GHZ G4 w 1.5 GBRAM. OSX on all systems is 10.4.6.
Test shooting HVX to FS100 various sizes, settings etc.

Problem...two days trying to resolve no luck.

The two laptops take the footage in fine. The tower says the same clips are corrupt and will not import. Feel like ive tried everything...trash PREFS, Re-install OSX, Re-install FCP. Any idea why the same files that work on two different laptops, will not work on an identically configured Tower???

do you get a codec error?
Try and load the DVCPRO HD 24p codec, and if you get an error, I hate to say, but you will need to re-install FCP.

I had a problem like that.. It was because of the upgrade to TIGER, for some reason it removed the codecs we needed..

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.. But after the re-install, everything worked fine..

let me know how it goes..

I have reinstalled FCP and codecs. Problem continues. I have now moved onto a clean install of OSX. Ill let you k ow if that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I had the same problem tonight... tried to import P2 from HVX....

kept getting errors...

then created a new FCP project, then tried P2 import, and it worked...

who knows, try that...

I would definitely upgrade your QuickTime.. 7.01 is way behind the curve. Current version is at 7.1.1. Try running the 10.4.6 combo updater on your G4, trash FCP prefs and repair permissions. You might also want to consider the 5.1 crossgrade as that does fix a number of issues and gives you the option to remove pulldown at ingest.
