FCP on Macbook

I just bought a regular macbook with 1 gig ram, 2.16 core 2 duo. Does anyone have any experience running FCP on these. I have read tons of articles about this and it seems alot of people say it works fine but motion doesnt. I will only be doing editing on Final Cut with some rendering and color correction on the laptop since I have a more powerfull desktop machine for graphics and effects stuff. I am pretty pissed because I didnt realize it had an integrated graphics chip that cant be upgraded. I almost want to return it and get a used pro somewhere.

I ran FCS1 with 5.1.4 without many issues.

Motion won't work, and of course, FCS2 probably won't either.

I had two gbs of RAM and an upgraded 7200 rpm Hitachi and used it for DVCProHD.

i haven't had any problems. I've even run motion, nothing too exstensive, but it at least worked. As far as final cut 5, you shouldn't have any problems. just long renders.

The MacBook is ok for FCS but in general you want something more powerful if the primary use is editing.

MacPro is ideal, then I'd say the order kinda goes MacBook Pro, G5, PowerBook, Imac/MacBook, G4, etc. Amount of RAM and graphics adapter also play a role.

Thanks guys. I figured i would have been frustrated down the line if I wanted to do some after effects or motion work on it and couldnt. Since I mostly want to work with video it didnt seem logical to keep a machine that i could just get by with so I returned it because it was inside the 14 day return period. I took a $130 restocking fee hit but its better than paying of 1300 for a computer I would probably want to get rid of pretty soon. I am just gonna wait to see if I can find a used macbook pro for a decent price. thanks alot for the feedback though.
