I just recieved my new MacBook Pro 2.2Ghz and I have a problem with FCP 5.1.4 playing back DVCPROHD 25P footage on the Macbook screen and using the DVI output on my JVC DT-V24L1.
The picture is all jittery like if the frequence of the LCD was wrong.
Doe's anybody have the same problem? Is there a solution?

Thanx,

Steven

The solution is that you are not monitoring correctly. Buy a Matrox MXO and then monitor via SDI (if you have he SDI model of the JVC) or component. You are attempting to use the JVC as a computer monitor rather than a video monitor in proper YUV color space.

Thanx but on my G5 I could use the JVC in DVI without any problems and now even on my Macbook Pro screen I have this flickering.
It is perfect when I play a video using Quicktime but the flickering is only when I view videos in FCP.
Maybe FCP 6 work better on a MBP.
I tested the MXO and I didn't see any difference between DVI and SDI...
so for me 1000$ is much to expensive for a box that doesn't have inputs!!!

There is significant difference between monitoring via MXO and just monitoring a computer image. For one, you are in the proper color space. That is essential for color correction. The MXO also allows for a variety of other functions from simulataneous SDI output to realtime downrez. If you do not need inputs, then the MXO represents the best monitoring solution. If you require inputs on a MacBook Pro, then your only option is going to be the IO HD which, when released in coming weeks, will be $3500.

What are your FCP preview settings?

What are your FCP preview settings?

FCP has crap previews unless you go and set it to high quality. If you have done this already, then I don't know what to tell you...

Hope this helps.
