I have never got FCP to successfully transcode my footage. I get an error saying that says AVCHD is not supported by power pc software. I have FCS 2 and its not an update from the other versions and I am running an intel mac. Everything is updated to FCP 6.0.5. Has anyone else encountered this problem of know a solution?

I have shot in all 1080p and 720p with 24 and 30 frames a second. I cant even get the FCP to read my camera.

I understand that AVCHD is not supported by power PC software/computers, but all my software and operating systems are intel based. 10.4.11 Thats whats really confusing me.

Sounds like you have an old install of Final Cut, that's been brought across from a PowerPC system. Somebody else here had a similar problem; reinstalling FCP fixed it for them, as I recall.

AFAIK, you have to be running Leopard (10.5.6 presently) and FCP 6.0.5 to transcode the footage.

I am able to shoot 720p 25 and 50 with zero problems. hth, kl

I am running fcp 6.0.5 and OS 10.4.11

Its just quite frustrating. I have tried uninstalling the old FCP (which was an upgrade) with a new FCP with no luck still. The new FCP I have installed is definitely not an upgrade version.

B Rilla;
AFAIK, you have to be running Leopard (10.5.6 presently) and FCP 6.0.5 to transcode the footage.

I don't think FCP 6.0.5 will run under Tiger, will it? See here:

Pretty sure that's accurate, but please report back if this is wrong. hth, kl
