FCP imports sound mono

Hello.

When I import MFX files into Final Cut Pro 5.1, the quicktime files have my sound in mono tracks (say four separate tracks on the timeline).

When I edit, I have to cut and trim each one. :crybaby:

How do I import MFX into stereo? I haven't read the Illiad of instruction books yet.

Yeah, I'm lazy.

:)

Select the clips you want to join, press Option L to make them a stereo pair. A pain? Yes. Better than keeping them separate? Yes.

Or you can keep the as dual mono and use Apple L intead to make them linked but not stereo.

So does FCP 5.1 always import sound tracks as separate monos?

Doesn't seem to be working.

:(

Looks like I have to READ.

If you're on 5.1, use Software Upgrade to get 5.1.2, it gives you the option on import to chose any combination of channels you want. And you can stereo on input 1&2, and/or 3&4.

Or, like said, highlight two channels in the Timeline, Modify > Stereo Pair (or use the keyboard shortcut). But you have to have two adjacent audio tracks highlighted in the Timeline first.

A pain? When two mouse clicks are a pain, I'll quit the business.

Apple+L only links audio to video, not stereo audio pairs.

And these links only apply to the copy of the clip in the Timeline, it will not effect the Master clip in the Browser at all.
