FCP import from P2

I got my HVX200 last week and love it. Just upgraded to the latest FCP on the Mac.

Here's the problem - even though the camera is set for 720 @ 24 fps and 2 channel audio when I import the P2 files to FCP it comes in as 60 fps and 4 channels of audio.

I have checked the camera 3 times and have tried several settings on the Sequence in FCP.

What's going on? HELP!!!!

Thanks,

Tim

Be sure you're looking at the framerate for the clip and not the codec, the codec will always read DVCPROHD 720P/60P, even when you're viewing 23.98 fps footage. The camera always records 4 channels onto P2 in the HD modes, it's no big deal, the first 2 are the ones you set with the switches for channel 1 and 2, IE either internal or XLR in. You can drop the 2nd 2 channels when you drop the footage on the timeline.
If you're still having problems with the video framerate, be sure you're shooting at 720/24PN, not 720/24P, so you can maximize the storage of the P2 cards. If you shot at 720/24P, then you'll need to use the DVCPROHD framerate converter under tools, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the response.
When I do an analize file the clip I just imported says it's at 60fps and not the 24 it says on the camera so that's a mystery. I will try setting to 720/24PN - it was 720/24P before. After reading the manual I thaot the p was the mode for me, and that because I chose 2 channel sound in one of the menus it would stick.

I also just checked Apple's late breaking news on FCP and there are several P2 HVX issues mentioned...

Best,

Tim

Well, thanks - your advice worked on the import and now it's showing the correct framerate.
Can you tell me what the proper sequence settings should be so that no rendering of dragged clips is necessary - unless filters have been applied of course.

Thanks, I'm new at the HD thing bu the quality is certainly worth the growing pains...

I am answering my own question - just used the "Sequence Preset" and it worked like a charm - no rendering necessary...
