FCP failed to install?

A few weeks back I noticed that FCP had some how been deleted from my computer. I had just been editing a short then it was gone a few days later. I then tried to reinstall everything and after waiting almost 2 hours for it to install I got an error message that read "final cut pro failed to install". I then remembered that I had just (I know a little late) upgraded my MBP to snow leopard and thought maybe that was it. Then I tried reinstalling and it gave me the same message at the end of the installation but I somehow was able to launch the program use it for a bit then it would just quit.

Now I haven't upgraded to the FCP 2.5 since I bought the software in September 2007 but I have downloaded the updates. So I am thinking that maybe I need to get FCP 2.5 in order for it to work with snow leopard? I was thinking about reformatting. Any thoughts? I am runing it on a MBP 2.53 GHZ intel core 2 duo 4 gbs of ram.

What is FCP 2.5?

Final Cut Studio 3 has FCP 7
Final Cut Studio 2 has FCP 6

Are you just installing a version of FCP or a full studio package (50GB+)? Is there enough space on your system? Are all the supporting documents and applications installed in their correct locations or at least referenced correctly in their current locations?

It may be best to do a full uninstall and then a fresh new install of Final Cut instead of overwriting files. Somewhere on the web is a good uninstall application for Final Cut, it's free. Cleans out everything. I chose to do that last year before reinstalling FCS3 and everything installed correctly.

Hey guys thanks for the responses. I had heard somewhere that FCP 2.5 is what it was being since some people felt that it wasn't a full upgrade? I dunno I heard it by a few people and it stuck with me. I guess I will have to upgrade seeing as I have a few projects lined up that are going to need FCP. I will upgrade and hopefully that does the trick. Thanks for the feedback!

You are confusing Final Cut Studio 2, which is a suite of applications, with Final Cut Pro 6.x, which is one of those applications.

It be prudent to get the terminology straight because it would us assist you.
