FCP Exporting footage not in the sequence.

So I'm trying to export a small clip =, just a single take that i cut out of a longer one. playing it in the timeline and everything works fine, but then when i export it with quicktime compression, it starts with footage from earlier in the take that i'd already cut out of the timeline.

i've tried a couple different things but nothing seems to be working. when i export the whole take at once, everything comes out fine, but once i start cutting everything goes to hell.

I'm taking a wild guess here, but did you mark in and out points around the content you want to export?

Place an in point (press "I") where you want to start in the timeline, and an output (press "O") where you want to end. Then export the sequence. It should only export what was between the two points.

Hey Cools, thanks for the quick reply. I just tried that and still no change in the export...it's still exporting the wrong footage. The strange thing is, the wrong footage is always the exact same piece of footage, regardless how much I cut out.

If you are exporting a clip from your browser, try setting the in and out points, and make sure that the clip is open in your viewer window and that the viewer is the active window.

This is all so strange, these are problems I've never had in FCP. Now, for some reason, I can't get anything from the timeline to show up in the viewer, only in the canvas. Thanks for the help guys, I can't tell if this is a major brain fart day or if there's something wrong with my set up
