Im editing a doc on FCP HD, meanwhile making tape logs using MS excel and wanted to know what is the standard method of cell format for timecode. While doing a websearch, some people using Excel under “Format” use the “custom” heading with “h:mm:ss” as the timecode format. I used that as well as the “37:30:55” format under the “time” heading, but the problem is the timecode when clicked always seems to convert to real clock time. For example 0:04:28 which is basically 0 hours, 4 minutes, 28 seconds, when clicked on shows 12:04:28 AM. This is not only annoying, but what I’m worried about is if I try importing this as a batch list into Final Cut, all that data will confuse the system. When I tried exporting my batch list from Final Cut, I noticed it automatically makes the Timecode column in the “general” format, which is what I plan to use. Is that a wise choice, or does anyone know a workaround for the Excel timecode with real time conflict?
Thanks,
Alexander
