FCP bad video quality

Yes, unbelievable, but FCP has a bad video quality.
The lack of plugin dithering, 16 or 32 bit per channel means a really hugly quality.

In this file you can see 2 clips with gaussian blur. One is from FCP, the other from Motion (which features dithering and 16 + 32bit per channel processing)

See with your eyes, the FCP result is LESS than consumer.

The zip file contains 2 prores hd clips. Total size 90Mb

Yeah what are the input/output formats. And you're totally mistaken. FCP is regularly used on all manner of TV shows, movies etc. So please don't blame your own operator error on an application that's been proven over many, many years of operation.

OH, I can see the difference. I have been capturing all night and was bored. Yeah, the FCP movie has what looks like 8-bit banding. So all you did was add a gaussian blur and render then export? I'll have to look for some out of focus shot and try the same thing on my end....see what I get.

I will post another example of simple color correction.
In Motion cc has no effect on noise, instead when done in FCP the image becomes more noisy and color blocs are more evident.
The difference is huge.

OK, I get the same thing, but ONLY when viewing it in QT. When I bring the clip back to FCP, I don't see the banding. Interesting that it shows up in QT, whereas the one from Motion does not. But as I said, I see it in QT, but NOT in FCP. NOt on the external monitor.

If I can't see the banding in FCP when I add the blur, export, then reimport...but you do see the banding...then it points to something amiss with your system. But it is VERY odd that Motion makes a QT file without the banding where FCP has the banding.

OH, and your clip, when I imported it into MY FCP, the Banding went away.
