FCP and OS Leopard

I have FCP 5.1.4 and am considering upgrading my mac from Tiger to Leopard. Does anyone know of any potential problems with my FCP version and Leopard, or should it be smooth sailing?

Thanks for your help.

Couple of issues maybe: NOAH??

Will 5.1.4 run on Leopard? I'm not sure it will.
I think your QT will upgrade with Leopard. Once that happens, you may have to upgrade your FCP to 6.0.

You may want to ask Apple. Otherwise I wouldn't upgrade unless you absolutely have to.

Don't even get me started on Avid----:crybaby:

I've been using FCP 7.1.4 on a PowerBook G4 with Leopard and QT 7.3 for some time without any problems. If I recall correctly, I upgraded QT and had to revert to QT 7.3 though.

I've heard from many folks who upgraded to Leopard with 5.14 no major problem. You can always do a careful install and if it goes bunk regress back. But yeah ideally I'd go FCS2.

I'm currently running 5.1.4 and Quicktime 7.6 on Leopard 10.5.6 Mac Pro. FCP works just fine.

The only issue I had was with Compressor 2 and Qmaster. Leopard won't run v2.3 and older. Software Update gave me 2.3.1 and I was cruising.

If you have all the discs I recommend doing a clean install on a new or separate hard drive. This gives you instant "back where you started" if things get screwy and you can spend all the time you need trying to fix all while having your complete old setup. The last 3 times I did major upgrades I went this route and kept backup for a couple weeks. Sometimes issues aren't seen until you work it a bit.

I just upgraded to Leopard and everything is a step slower, including FCP.

I have a slow mac to begin with 1.8G CPU, 1G Ram, so that might not be an issue for you.
