Fcp 7!!!

Share and Blu-Ray

Share and Blu-Ray

Well .... the new File->Share->Blu-Ray flow works
really well ..

except:

1. You can't possibly make out any details in the little thumb=nail
they show for what the title and chapter menus are going to look like.

2. A little bug .. if you put a writable CDRom into the drive (not the Blu-Ray
drive), the Share process will promptly crash.

Which kind of sucks .. but other than that . it's pretty darn easy. So,
just leave it alone .. let it do it's thing .. which for me was about
10 hours..

The more I play around with FCP, the more disappointed I'm getting. None of the new features seem to work right, if at all as advertised. Least not the ones I've used. It's just horrid program coding.

I can only hope and be optimistic that this release was a last minute effort just to shove something out the door when Apple realised the efforts on the Cocoa 64 bit version were decidedly not going to finish by it's deadline, what ever that may have been. I mean how else can you responsibally explain a 2 year development cycle for the junk that is this FCS (2009) release? Especially so close to Snow Leopard, for which a pro app like this would be a flagship example to promote it's new technology.

I've yet to use any new feature or see any kind of improvement that makes the most of a Mac Pro, 4 core or 8 core, and speeds up productivity. I can be understanding of the effort it may take to convert such a program from Carbon to Cocoa. And I can understand if the job at hand was much larger then they expected and how it could be delayed so. But It really would be great if Apple could just let the Pro App sector know what the deal is and what their plans are.

Just griping at the moment yes, but it is a bit satisfying just to b*tch out loud a little. lol. I am waiting on a Color render anyway. ( Which I thought the ATI 4870 was supposed to be faster then the the 1900 at this? Maybe that's only in Motion... )

FCC- free market ?

FCC- free market ?

so the FCC decided to let the market decide. not a bad philosophy in the USA, land of Free market Laissez-faire government.

Surely, you jest... :-) Free-market laissez-faire government in the USA ? Where ? The FCC and the National Association of Broadcasters represent anything but the free market. If we had a free market economy or laissez-faire government for that matter, we would have been HD some time ago. Furthermore, I suspect that this Blue-ray discussion would have occurred sometime previous to circa August 2009.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

The NAB is not a government agency and is indeed a major player in a market which encompasses producers, consumers, electronics companies and other interested parties. The influence the FCC has is balanced by the same sort of checks and balances as other departments of the US government. How effective those checks and balances are could be debated i suppose but indeed as every other aspect of our system of governance exist it is as lightly controlled as practical and is less regulated than most but perhaps more regulated than some.
