FCP 7 Log and Capture Problem

This is the first time I've had to hook up a DVD player via DV bridge to my iMac since upgrading to 7. When I open up log and capture it works for a couple of minutes before freezing up the program; at which point I have to force quit and restart only to have the same thing happen again.

The DV Bridge is a Dazzle and it;s RCA in from the DVD player, Firewire 400 out to the iMac.

Is this a commercial DVD?

If it isn't, just use the original source footage from your client.
That wouldn't really matter as the dvds coming through the camera and the copy protection isn't interpreted.

How many firewire devices do you have plugged in? My will lock up if I have 2 drives plugged in, however if I only have one plugged in and my camera then its fine.

Wasn't sure if it use to work before the upgrade or not by reading what you wrote. I once had dazzle a while back and it froze all the time.

Not sure if it would work, but what about Handbrake? It creates mpeg-4 and h.264 - maybe one could use compressor to transcode those to pro res and use in final cut?

That did the trick.

Thanks to all for the responses.
