GH3 FCP 7 and GH3

I have just placed an order for a GH3... I will be moving out of the Canon DSLR realm and into the micro 4/3 world but my main concern is what to expect in FCP 7 (yes I am still using it... no I don't want to move to FCX or Premiere for now)
I know this camera has been out for years so I am sorry to bring up an old camera topic, but I'd like to know what I can expect as far as issues in editing? Do i have to transcode still? And it seems I'm reading a lot about audio drift but I can't figure out what causes it or what to do about it...
Thanks for your time guys

5DtoRGB Batch works well for converting files for FCP 7.

As a side, I have a client that decided to update an older commercial which was originally edited in FCP 7. Rather than recreate the entire edit, I fired up the ole Mac Pro and made the changes and hit render. While it was ticking away I decided to go ahead and recreate the edit in Premiere Pro. You guessed it. I completely rebuilt the edit in Premiere and output the file before FCP 7 had even completed it's render.

Many would be shocked how many productions are still edited in FCP 7.

I still do all my editing work in FCP 7. Everyone wants PRORES HQ as a master and FCP7 handles Prores great. It's rock solid. Manages media fine. There are plugins galore. I have no reason to edit in FCP X unless it's RED RAW media I'm dealing with, or h.264 and don't want to bother transcoding. I've done a couple projects now on FCP X, and while I have it pretty much figured out, I still prefer track based editing.

I hate transcoding... hate it hate it hate it... but apparently I'm too lazy to learn new software so how bad can I really hate it right

I don't think anybody loves transcoding.
OK there are probably a few geeks out there that go gaga over this stuff. :2vrolijk_08:

I would say download the free version of 5DtoRGB, and if it floats your boat than pay a few bucks for the batch version so you can just dump a whole folder on it while you do something else.

I loved FCP 7 and wished they would update it, but I don't think that will ever happen. I think one of the biggest draws with the newer editing apps is the fact that they are 64bit, which is huge compared to FCP 7 only being able to use 2GB of ram.
