FCP 6 P2 Variable Frame Rate import error

Hey guys,

I'm having a bit of a problem with FCP 6, was wondering if anyone might know a solution. Last night, I shot some footage. Since I don't have FCP 6 installed on my Powerbook, I just copied the files from each card to a Folder on a hard disk. Today I hooked it up to my G5 and attempted to import the footage. I used the Log and Transfer window, and was able to pull the footage in. I was able to import all of the footage EXCEPT the footage shoot using a different frame rate other than the default (I was shooting 720pN24) I had 4 takes that were shot overcranked to 48 frames per second. I looked through the manual and there was nothing about this being an issue. It suggested I would have to use the DVCPro HD frame rate converter. But in attempting to use this I found out you can only use it for clips in the browser.

When I attempt to pull the overcranked clips into the transfer que, they run as if they're importing, but then the Status column shows a red exclamation point and they don't import. If anyone has experienced this and know what to do, I'd appreciate it. I'm sure it's something really simple that I'm forgetting to do. Thanks.

I've had a problem which I think was similar, I had a few clips that would not import and I got a red exclamation mark. I did a "repair clip" on the P2 card clips and that fixed it which I don't think is an option for you if you copied the volumes over and reformatted the P2 card.

I've had other problems with P2 files I copied over to a cheap drive..not the same thing, and I've used both P 2 Log and more recently, Ray light ,to get them in. Ray light I'm finding is really a time saver although I've used it only for a few days so I got to use it a while before I say it's as good as it seems. You might want to try P2 Log Pro to repair a clip if that's your only option and you don't mind spending $100.

I highly doubt that there is anythign wrong with the clips. All 4 of the clips shot at 48 frames per second won't import through the log and transfer window. It has to be something that I'm doing wrong.
