The first version of FCP that is compatible with Intel Macs is 5.1.4.

The first version of Final Cut, or Magic Bullet FOR Final Cut? Because Final Cut works just fine for me.
FCP 5.0.4 is not compatible with Intel Macs. It may work occasionally, but eventually issues will present themselves.
The biggest issue is with plug ins being compatible.
This is why you are experiencing issues.
I suggest you upgrade to a version of FCP and Studio that is compatible with Intel Macs.

I've used it for years and have a few dozens plugins installed and they all work fine.
I don't mind assisting, but right now you are whistling by the graveyard.
5.0.4 is not compatible with Intel Macs. Sooner or later issues arise.
5.0.4 shipped in May, 2005. It is over five and half years old. Intel Macs require at least 5.1.4.
I've seen these issues on the boards elsewhere. Contact the company that sells the offending plug in and ask them if it will work in 5.0.4 on an Intel Mac with whatever OS X version you are running
