BenB, please show me what I'm doing wrong. Later in the video I try to gently crush my blacks, but with the striong blue tint I desire in the shadows I can't get black blacks. As I mentioned in the comments in that blog posting, I get much better results with FCP's RGB Balance effect. I'll admit that I don't spend much time in the vid trying to finesse the FCP 3-way, but that doesn't mean I haven't spent a long time struggling with it in the past. I'd love to be shown how to get better results from it, because not every FCP station I sit down at has Colorista.BenB said:That'd be a nice demo if you used the FCP 3-Way color corrector properly, rather than just slide some stuff around...
I certainly realize that Colorista won't be everyone's new favorite thing, but one thing I hope people understand is that the way things work with Red Giant and The Orphanage is that we at The O design something that we need, we use it internally for a while, and eventually RGS takes a look at it and decides if it should become a product. So the design doesn't come out of some hypothetical "maybe this would sell," it comes out of a real-world need based on our travels in the worlds of high-end telecine and film/video post.
As always, I'm very interested in any suggestions about how to make it better.
