And it fixes Colorista. I just installed it...and I have my GUI back.

Who says Apple doesn't act fast? I mean, this took like 2 days.

Any word on the Duck?

Downloading now, crossing my fingers. Got word it'd be out in a day or so. Very nice response time. Although how something so blantaly broken slipped out in the first place, well, **** happens, who knows...

Late-Breaking News About Final Cut Pro 5.1.4

Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 is a maintenance release that resolves the following issues.
FxPlug Plug-ins with Custom User Interface Elements
FxPlug plug-ins that have custom user interface elements now work as expected.
Importing XML Files
Importing XML files with missing <pathurl> elements now works as expected.

Apple officially says Duck, Conduit, Colorista, all work.

I only have Conduit on mine, and it works. Seems to have an overly touchy, sensitive feel to it now. But it works. P2 Import (so far), FX Plugs, all seems to be right with the world.

THANK YOU APPLE!!!!

Shane, thanks for the quick heads up the other day on the 5.1.3 update! since I'm now using colorista it saved me a lot of headaches when I held off.

This may be a dumb questions but I would surely appreciate your thoughts - I have a G5 Quad (non-intel) running FCP 5.0.4 working in standard resolution 24p file and I am just starting a new project. Is there any need for me to update to 5.1.4?

Don't ever update mid-project. After you're done, there are many advantages to upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1.

What is the differnce between the two? Color correct 3-way is pretty good, but when I try to make clips darker it looks bad. I usually just make the clips darker by changing the opacity... but if I layer a clip on top of another one it shows through... for this reason I can not always use the opacity adjustment.

Colorista uses a lift/gamma/gain model, identical to high-end color systems like Da Vinci and Lustre. The movie I linked above shows my own struggle with making things look good and dark with the FCP 3-way, and how Colorista handles the same task.

That'd be a nice demo if you used the FCP 3-Way color corrector properly, rather than just slide some stuff around. That said, I do think Colorista is a bit better than FCP's 3-Way, but not by miles and miles. I don't think that video clip is a fair assesment. Just my "opinion" so don't go flaming me. I never said Colorista was bad, I am saying it's better.

Change to a watermark, great! Now I can demo it and actually see the results. Look forward to using it more.

Yep for those of us who don't know how to (or don't want to take the time to) use the 3 way properly Colorista has been a great option. Yanking those sliders around works for me!
