A client walked in today with footage shot at a local college on JVC HDV. I literally cannot get the footage into the Avid. Tried direct import, tried AMA.... neither worked just black "scratchy" looking video in the Avid. For what it's worth, when I played thru quicktime player, the screen was white (normally means missing codec). I downloaded PRORES QUICKTIME DECODER FOR WINDOWS and tried to install version 1.0, but the Avid said a newer version was already on the system.
She also had footage shot in Pheonix by some professionals. And guess what? AMA brought that footage in just fine.
So to recap- none of the HDV 1080P_24 footage works, all of the professional does. Obviously the students got their footage into some bizzare codec. The only thing that will play it is VLC MEDIA PLAYER. And of course no one there returns a call......
I tried to convert thru VLC to an H264, but when imported into the Avid it was strobed.......HELP!!! Any/all feedback would be appreciated.
