Really hoping someone has an idea or tweak to help me out...
I shoot on the HMC-150 @ 1080/30p and transcode to Prores. I'm editing pretty straightforward reality/documentary footage with interview on Track 1 and Broll on Track 2 with periodic L3rds above that. I typically have 10 audio tracks for various effects, music, and mics. Nothing too crazy is what I'm getting at.
What I'm noticing is that when I have two tracks of video stacked on top of each other (even if the top track is full frame 100% opacity) I'm getting stuttering playback after 5-10 seconds of acceptable continuous playback.
I've tried the typical RT/Dynamic switching to no avail.
Now, here is the tech (which is probably going to yield my answer). I'm running all media from a single G-Drive (not RAID) FW800. I've had other editors cut from this type of drive before without issue (on their machines).
I'm also editing on a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz i7 with 8GB of factory RAM.
I'm guessing that the non-RAID is the factor or that FW800 can't carry the two streams of HD video at the same time. In my bins, the footage says its bitrate is 19Mbps. I tried searching the forums for anyone with similar issues to no avail.
Even if there is a workaround that doesn't playback full res, I'd be interested. Thanks in advance everyone.
