FC Studio 2-With A G5

Looking to move up to Final Cut Studio 2. I want to move from DV to HD...looking to get the HVX200. From the apple site, it looks like I'd be good to go with a Power Mac G5 dual 2.5 with 4 GB ram....except for Color.

Anyone out there that could let me know if i could get by? or do i need a Mac Pro?

Depends on RAM and graphics card. It's definitely better with a MacPro but get what you can afford.

You probably can get by on FCS2 without a Mac Pro. I am, so far. Fortunately DVCPro HD isn't that rough on the rendering side of things, I think you'll find that setup to be sufficient.
 
As soon as I get my settlement from getting hit by that car on Saturday, that is the setup I am getting. along with the hvx. Sweet mercy! With that system, anything is possible.

I have a "late october 2005 dual core 2.0" with 2GB RAM. It's been an absolute workhorse. It handles HD fairly well... it's the external drives I keep the files on that sometimes lag... make sure your external media drives are FW800 if possible.
