"FayetteNam" Trailer Shoot

I'd like to share with you guys some stills from my shoot last night. I was hired to do a trailer for the stage piece "Fayette-Nam" by the Asian American Theatre Company in SF. We shot in a donut shop under some of the worst conditions imaginable (customers constantly coming in and out, limited space for lights, TV on in the background etc.) but I'm quite proud of what we've managed to do. Shot on the Canon A1 with Letus Extreme adapter. The Manhattan LCD we have on set was a huge asset as we were always able to quickly get sharp focus and it was useful for the director to look at the shot.

Nice job Huy, very cool...

I did a shoot under similar conditions in a Mission District bar so I completely empathize with how hard it can be... Even more so for audio...

very nice!
how much light did you use?
i have problems in low light mostly

For interior I had a Coollight 455P (about 900w equivalent), an Arri 650 on green gel for the background and a Cool Light CMD 150 (about 650w) for the hair light. The exterior were lit with the Arri 650 and the 455P. I would have liked to use more light but we were crunched for time and there was a risk of customers and pedestrians tripping over all the cables.

Footage coming soon!

Trailer looks really good, Huy! Nice work.

I do have one comment that may or may not be important to you. When VO and CG says and shows the time, military time is said in the plural, in other words 2100 HOURS not HOUR. I found it a bit distracting, but others may not.

Aside from that, looks great.

.

Haha yea, unfortunately we didn't catch that mistake until after the VO had been recorded. There was no time to schedule another session and it would have been more distracting to correct the title and have the VO mispronounce it.
