Favorite LUT for F35?

I'm no colorist. But I'm trying some LUTs with F35.

I'm liking arri alexa logC to rec709 in resolve for warm feeling and slog macgregor_12 for less color. The others post here in the forum have too much of a look and are not so neutral.

What is your favorites?

The Alexa Davinci LUT gives a very nice contrast and highlight rolloff, the problem comes with the color space conversion, which is really off. Blues and violets get really ugly.
I keep finding the slog-cineon/ grading / kodak print stock lut combo to be the most filmic process.

You mean SLOG to cineon 10 in input and Kodak_2383_average_2008 in ouput? With this I get too contrast and desaturated look almost like bleachbypass effect. Not natural. Or I do wrong?

Ok but so you turn the contrast a lot down in the grade? It looks really contrasty.

What I mean is I don't know much about LUTs but I thought LUT was initial step. Apply LUT to start neutral and then grade. But if LUT already make it very contrasty.

Ok here is specially for you Mac. :)

Sorry for stupid test but I rent small SSD with recorder and had to erase monday test to make space. So I record this quick test now.

Difference is other test was outside sunny day.

Well more than the arri LUT. Also in outside sunny test color also had bigger difference and looked so disaturated that have bit of bleachbypass effect. Skin had bronze brown color and alexa LUT had more natural skin color.

If you like the Alexa LUT, you should totally use it! It'll be appropriate for some things, not others. Same for the Kodak print LUT. I've been liking the Impulz LUTs as a way to get a standard color pallate and match between cameras, but that's what works for me.

I don't mean I don't like the kodak print LUT from mac. I thought I maybe do some wrong because I thought it was meant to look neutral. Like give true representation. But for me it looks like a look. Yes it will fit some things. But I thought it was a neutral start. To look like clean kodak. But it looks like graded kodak or have a look almost like bleachbypass.

I've also been trying to find a nice starting LUT for slog!

The most neutral and true to life in terms of colour and contrast i've found are Mac's anti slog LUTs. Everything else needs quite a bit of tweaking just to get it to that normal starting point you're after.

That alexa LUT is a bit too aggressive on the contrast and colour for my tastes. and you'll find a few "colour errors" on some footage.

Have you tried my nicecream LUT yet? It's not perfect, but i've used it on quite a few projects now and i like it :) i need to make a version that's less aggressive on the shadows though, for those low contrast night scenes where everything is sitting under 50%
