Favorite Cameo Performances

I was thinking about great cameo performances.

Three favorites that came to mind are:

- Alec Baldwin in "Glengarry Glenross"
- Christopher Walken in "Pulp Fiction"
- Robert Duvall in "Apocalypse Now"

What are some other great ones?

Chris

Bob Saget in "Half Baked"

John Turturro in "The Big Lebowski"

Neil Patrick Harris in "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"

Crispin Glover in "Wild at Heart"

John Goodman in "Arachnophobia"

Some excellent additions to the list.

When I think about it, I could also add Harvey Keitel and Eric Stoltz from "Pulp Ficion".

Chris

Peter O'Toole in the '60's version of Casino Royale - in the psychedelic dream sequence with the Scots bagpipers.

O'Toole asks the frantic Sellers if he's Richard Burton. Sellers answers that in fact, he's actually Peter O'Toole. O'Toole then answers that in that case, he's "the greatest man who ever breathed"!

Kills me every time. Almost worth sitting through the painful parts of the film to get there. Awesome.

Yeah, and I think Harvey played almost the same exact character in Point of No Return.

He did, but I hate "Point of No Return". It is such a pathetic version of "La Femme Nikita", which I love.

Which brings me to Jean Reno, who has a great cameo in that film.

Off the top of my head...

Brad Pitt in True Romance. "We need some beer ... and some cleaning products." Val Kilmer in the same film.

Tarantino in Desperado (that joke still makes me laugh).

Chuck Heston in Waynes World 2 "Gordon street ... I once knew a girl on Gordon street. But that was a long time ago, when I was young."

I would say Bruce Campbell in the Spiderman movies, but I feel like he's capable of so much more, that he's kind of wasted. Still, it's cool to see him in there.

Does the Samuel Jackson part in Deep Blue Sea count as a cameo? He was set up to be a major character and then they pulled the rug out. It was clever though.

When I saw the thread I was going to say Kevin McCarthy in Invasion of the Body Snatchers 78--but that isnt really about performance--just a fantastic way to link to the original(and he did it again in Looney Tunes Back in Action!).

Alfred Molina in Boogie Nights
Tommy Lee Jones in Natural Born Killers

Sort of like Drew Barrymore in "Scream".

Chris

Scream wasnt as diabolical about it. It was great how Jackson was talking about his "expedition accident" early on like it was going to feature as some sort of character building thing throughout the story then:
snap chew gulp

Since we're talking about Scream, how about Wes Craven in John Carpenter's Body Bags (curiously cut out of the DVD version)? He was creepy as hell in that.

Wes Craven as the creepy janitor in the Freddy sweater in "Scream."
OK, it's a bit obscure...

David Cronenberg as the killer in "To Die For" or "Nightbreed"

A lot of these I don't really consider cameos in the technical sense of the word... Albert Hitchcock getting on the bus in North by Northwest is more of a cameo.

I don't consider Keitel or Walken in Pulp Fiction to be cameos...

I mean, if those are cameos, then the greatest is Walken in True Romance "I'm the antichrist, and you got me in a vendetta type of mood. You tell the angels in heaven you never saw evil so perfectly personified as you did in the face of the man that killed you'

But that's not a cameo, in my opinion.
