Fast motion water

What's the best way to go about doing this?

24p,30p,60i?
How should I go about editing it in FCP to make it look the best, I want the flowing water to actually look like fogish if anyone knows what I mean.

Im new to my DVX so im still not sure what progressive mode would be best for fast motion.

for motion I would recommend checking out the shutter speeds on the dvx

there's a wide range so you can control the exposure and motion blur

I'm myself currently testing these out

see the SHUTTER and SPEED SEL buttons on the side of the camera
as well as the SYCHRO SCAN function in the menu

Are you trying to make the image look like this? Because if you are you're not going to be able to do that on video.
Time lapses of water simply make it look like the water is moving really fast. The below effect is done with pictures through a longer exposure.

I was trying to do something sorta like that and thought of how the shutter works on a still camera and relized how it all worked. I did tho see a video similar to what I was thinking of but maybe they just added some kind of glow to it to make it look like that or something. Thanks anyways tho I got some cool 30p shots today.

i dont have an expert opinion on the matter, but if you were able to lower the shutter speed considerably and have a body of very fast moving water, wouldn't it come out similar (of course not as perfect) but it would be video with a similar effect. i really have no actual idea, but that would at least make some sense

I know I've seen this done with video, but I'm not sure where...I'll see if I can find an example to post...
As far as how, I can't say I've ever done it (although now I'm going to go try). Diddo what's above: Try a slow shutter and do most of your work in Post with glow...play around with it and let us know how it goes...

i shot a sick timelapse of a pond in 24p and i have to say it came out really well, make sure its a nice sunny day to get the full glimmer effect on the water, having some ripples is nice as well, and for the time lapse id say 200 percent in final cut? that should do it depending on how long the clip is
