Fast, IS'ed, zoom lenses for FS700. Advices!

Ok, so that's quite a lot of requirements and I guess choices are very limited.
- Fast
- Image Stabilisation
- Zoom (in most used range - touching 50mm equivalent)
I've mentioned it in another topic but I feel it will be good reference topic for FS700 owners as well as future FS7 owners. I will update this post as we will get along.

So, what we have so far? Is there anything else besides:

Tamron 24-70 2.8?

This topic is discussed since the F3/FS100 exist.
There is no "one for all" lens. It's up to you what you need most.

I used the Canon 24-105/4,0L on a Speedbooster and the Canon 17-55/2,8 on a
Smart Adapter. Both work flawlessly and have their own strength and weaknesses
that are well known already.

I also use the 18-200 kitlens from time to time. The IS is great, but the MF is a hit
and miss and the aperture isn't constant either. Bu tit has the greatest range of all
IS lenses.

There's also the Sony SEL PZ 18-105, which is nice, when the camera has electronic
lens correction, which the FS700 was supposed to have, but has nit until today.

If you want it really fast, there's only the Tamron 24-70, which seems to be nice, if the
range is big enough for you. On a speedbooster it has a nice constant f2...

Personally, I would choose the 17-55/2,8 with a cheap adapter and wait for something
better to come.

The soon to arrive Sony 28-135/4,0 PZ is a nice lens if and only if the wide end is good enough
for you. As I prefer 18mm at the wide end and around 80-100mm at the long end with
an effective constant f-stop of 2,8 - there's nothing out there yet.

Fast and cheap: Canon 17-55/2,8 on any adapter
Longer range and more expensive: Canon 24-105/4L (or Sigma Art 24-105/4) on speedbooster
Fastest lens with medium range: Tamron 24-70 on speedbooster.

^^^ What he said. ^^^

There is not magical lens hiding under a rock somewhere unfortunately. You can't really "have it all"... at least not yet. Best lenses I have used for those requirements would be the latest generation Canon L Series lenses with IS: 16-35, 24-70, 70-200. You get zoom, good image stabilzation, and nothing less than F2.8. Though I do like the Sigma 18-35 Art Lens. Though "cheap" is not a part of that equation... they aren't cine lenses so they are cheap by comparison.

Lol, this is like the good old adage: good, fast, cheap....pick two.

You'll never get all three.

Beware: The Tamron focuses the "wrong" way - as in the Nikon way.. Nothing wrong with that but it's worth considering if you are used to going the way most other photo and cine lenses go..
