Fast 20mm lens

I'm looking for any recommendations for a good quality faster 20mm lens for my AF100. I find myself leaning a lot towards my 20mm 3.5 Nikon so I would like to upgrade to something f2.8 or faster. I like the images and the speed from the Lumix 20mm f1.7, but I worry how it will integrate into my existing rig (mattebox, follow focus, etc...). It has to be manual. I don't care about brand and/or mount type as long as there is an adapter available and it is a good quality lens.

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, but here is a short list.

Sigma 20mm f1.8 EX DG
Canon EF 20mm f2.8 USM
Panasonic Lumix 20mm f1.7 Pancake
Nikkor 20mm f2.8 MF 1984
Nikkor 20mm f2.8 AF 1989
Nikkor 20mm f2.8D AF 1993
Minolta 20mm f2.8 MD W Rokkor
Zeiss 20mm f2.8 Jena Flektagon MC
Zeiss 20mm T1.6 DigiPrime
Leica 21mm f2.8 ASPH
Leica 21mm f1.4 Summilux ASPH
Zeiss 21mm f2.8 Distagon
Olympus Zuiko 21mm f2.0

And of course you could also choose a nice zoom lens which would cover 20mm as well.

Good Luck!

Dave

M4/3 will outlast the af100. That lens will hold it's value better than any else you would buy right now.

I'm in the same boat. You can get the Nikon 2.8 20mm on ebay for just over $300. I am also looking for something wider like the Tokina 11-16 or the Olympus 11-22. I would go for the Lumix 14mm except for the reason you suggest, that it won't work with the rig.

I think the Olympus 11-22 would be great. It is a 4/3 and would work with control from the AF100. The thing about that is I believe it telescopes so also would not play well with a matte box.

I have the Nikkor 20mm f2.8 AF, It is a very sharp and very useful lens. Specially now that my go to lens, Canon 17-40mm L lens, is all but useless when using it with the Kipon adapter.

I own the Tokina 11-16 in a Nikon mount. It is probably my favorite lens I own.

Thanks!

Yeah, I've heard great things about that lens. It's a good bargain. How is that Tokina 11-22 on dolly or other types of moving shots? I was thinking of springing for the Panasonic 7-14 but it is so wide, I'm afraid of fisheye and that push-pull type distortion on moving shots.

I have the Nikkor 20mm f/2.8D. I already had a small Nikkor lens collection.

The image looks very nice and sharp for just a photo lens. Though, it is not as cheap as some micro 4/3 lenses.

I may get the Voigtlander 25mm .95, as it becomes more available.

Id say the voigtlander 25 .95 needs to be in your kit before the 20mm.

+1. At f/0.95, it's over three stops faster than an f/2.8 lens. It's sharp and crisp and fast and slick and the focus is luxurious and the practically-macro focusing distance makes it a great lens, if all you need is a manual lens.
