Fasest way to downconvert EX-1 Footy

I have clients that need to see footage shot on the EX-1 almost immediately after I shoot it. I have been simply taking the clips, once converted through XDCAM Transfer, and, dropping them into the proper sequence in FCP 7, and then sending them to compressor.

In Compressor I have changed the frame rate to match the settings I shot in and then I just re size it to up to 214x120. This produces a nice small file but for a card and a half (16GB SxS Cards) of footage it takes about 3hrs to convert.

My client seems to think that it will be faster in AVID but he has only had experience with HDV so it would make sense that it would have been much faster.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to down convert the footage quicker? Or do you think it is just the nature of the SxS cards and how they are packaged? I haven't been able to try AVID yet but I'm assuming it won't be much quicker than FCP.

Any Ideas or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sean

put mov's on hard drive

Why not just send the clips, transferred through XDCAM transfer, to a client-dedicated external hard drive? They become full Quicktime movies and can be opened and seen right after the 8 minutes it took to transfer a 16GB card.

because the files need to be reveiewed quickly first to create a script based off of them. The files are too big and they have to be sent through out the world so in a sense there are just too many clients. Thanks for you ideas tho.

Any other opinions regarding this?

I'm not sure if you are making the compressed files right off the timeline or not, but I have found it takes significantly longer to make a compressed file (using compressor) right off the FCP timeline. I export a full quality file off the timeline (with garbage edited out) then open compressor stand alone, and drop my full rez files in that, then compress. Maybe that's what you're doing already. But if not - try it and see if it's faster.
