This was a unique, as well as a sad request from a friend to document a home that his mother had lived in for 40 years. She had suddenly passed away from cancer and since they had to sell the house, the two sons asked me to document the wonderful home they had grown up in along with the timeless furniture and antiques their mother had collected over the years.

Music: Frazey Ford "The Gospel Song"
Camera: Panasonic AF100
Slider: Cinevate Atlas 10
Monitor: TV Logic
Lenses: Nikon 14-24, Nikon 24-70, Lumix 7-14

Congrats, knowing the back story made that really incredible, what a great thing to do, very emotional. Awesome choice of music too, didn't know Frazey Ford had a solo album, love the Be Good Tanyas.

Lovely gesture, lovely shots. What a tasteful and beautiful house - heartbreaking really thinking about what a fantastic place it must have been to grow up in.

Actually, I'm not done shooting the house. We're waiting for better weather. Also, all natural or existing practical lights.

I got kinda sad there. What a great house. No exterior shot though? Natural light or did you supplement?

Great job.
I am sure the sons will appreciate this video as the years go by.
It is amazing the amount of stuff that one accumlates over a lifetime.
Which shots were done with the 7-14?
Which is sharper on the AF-100 - The Lumix or the Nikons?

Thanks. I only used the lumix 7-14 on one shot at 4:11. I'd say that 14mm is the limit before getting too distorted. But I needed a bit more coverage so the 7-14 saved me there. I really like the nikon 14-24 because it's a also a little faster. That said, the Nikon 14-24 is prone to flares. If sharpness is what you want the Lumix on the Af100 is actually very sharp, but I prefer the color and bokeh from the Nikons.

Great job.

Thanks. The lighting was challenging. All the old lamps have tungsten lighting which I normally wouldn't leave on with all the sunlight, but I decided to keep them on in the end because there was a certain charm to them. Downstairs were the kitchen is was tricky because there was fluorescent mixed with tungsten. I had to decide what to leave on there.

Natural and practicals? LOOKS AWESOME! Great job!

Beautifully done on a gorgeous place. Loved the focus pulls on the slider. Really a mesmerizing piece of work. Fireplace at the end was perfect.

Wow, incredibly moving. Good job - I agree that her children and grandchildren will appreciate it later as they grow up.

What a wonderful gift, Bob, and beautifully done.
Feels strange asking technical questions after an emotional piece like that, but-

Settings, sir?
What length Atlas, 35"?
With the varied CTs, did you WB once with a mix of sources and keep it as you went room to room, or tweak it any as you moved?
Grading?

Nicely done- very nicely done, thanks for sharing.

The shots and your eye really brought out what a great 'lived in / loved in' home it is. Great job Bob.

Small world...I checked out the video because I'm getting an AF-100. And within a few moments realized I'd been in the house before. Many times, in fact. She was a totally original, wonderful person, just like the house is a totally original, wonderful house. Sad, but a lovely tribute. Well done.

Yes this was the 35" slider. Really solidly built.
As for settings, they varied a little depending on the scene, but I generally stuck to:
Cine D Gamma
Matrix Norm2
Detail -4
Chroma -4
coring +2
DRS 0, or +1
Ped -2 to 0

Slight grading was done in FCP.

Thanks!
