Fantastic Panasonic GH2 video

I saw this fantastic video of a reportage of a shoot out... of the Alexa and Red mx with the GH2!!! I don't see any post on it and until know we don't have any place to post gh2 videos.

Fantastic skin tones, same lighting than the Sony f3 film in London that lots rave about. Does the GH2 pale compared to them, for me the answer is no. More so that it was I would call semi run and gun because he was sometimes also benefiting from the set lighting of the red mx and Alexa shoot out. Apart from some shot that I think where a little overexposed by the shooter but he was run @ gun I think the images are great. What I miss is some sunlite light tp stress the dynamic range, he said he carried a test against the 5d and will publish it in some days. On his french blog he is very enthusiastic about the GH2 and says that panasonic will introduce a fast zoom lense!!!

More than 100 views and not a drop to drink, sorry not a post in reply. Do you think if there was a resolution chart or a shot at 3200 iso in complete darkness with a blue band that you have to look with a magnifying glass we would already past the 10 post?

Well, I have watched it several times and my first reaction was something like "Holy Crap" and then I suspected it was a joke...especially when it hit 1:42 because I'm sitting there thinking there's no way this was shot on a GH2.

This footage is confirming that the GH2 can be pretty killer when set on 1080p24 Cinema mode. My french is pretty rusty but it looks like they used the Nostalgic film mode. I can't tell if he was commenting on the Nostalgic mode being desaturated or whether he tweaked those settings to desaturate it. I also read his blog and he seems pretty much blown away by the incredible GH2 using 108024p. I think he also confirms that 100% of this video was shot using the GH2.

"Fantastic" may be an understatement. Of course, I may be being swayed a tad by the gorgeous subject matter.

EDIT: I suspect the lack of replies is not so much due to the absence of low-light chart shots with banding as much as severe disappointment over the exclusion of ducks and squirrels. :)

Hehe ... Sorry, I've been too busy emailing the link to this video to my friends & colleagues to reply here until now ... :-)

And yes, fantastic skin tones, etc.

All props to Emmanuel and the lighting crew!

Happy holidays everyone (I'm celebrating Festivus)!

Good point, they did provide a chick, but I guess it is not as popular as ducks and squirrels. :)

Just watched it. Looks a lil mushy. Compression to vimeo?

Would like to see some footage really well compressed.

Bet that Alexa footage is awesome... Guys struggling with the red camera. Lol. That's not a lens! Better get some more practice in.

We in the studio downloaded the less compressed file. Viewed it 32 inch LCD and then tweaked it for test grading since emmanuel mentioned he didnt grade it. This its the footage that will convince us in the studio to go the gh2 route. Amazing.

I've been playing with the downloaded footage all afternoon. The colors/resolution are amazing. I too was looking for a "gotcha"...but seeing that it's all GH-2....man I'm impressed. I can't believe that's Nostalgic mode.

It might seem a bit controversial or even premature to say so but on skin tone and more so on highlight roll-off the gh2 seems to be (much) better than the Af-100. The Af -100 seems to roll-off into a yellow tint (cast), as if the blue channel clips much faster than the green and red one. Not a good comparison but looking at shots from the crew af100 footage of the lady facing the window, it just clips on her cheeks. While on this example it roll off nicely, you can even judge the intensity and how it roll-off as she approaches the window.
