I took the DVX to a family picnic and shot this:

Oh, kidding. I was playing around with Scene File 6, and strong light sources. In this picture there is natural light coming from behind through some windows about 2 feet behind. There's a halogen flood light below to the left. The shutter speed was set to 1/24.

I was trying to get some dramatic looking composition, with a lot of texture. If these had been people, I wanted to see every twitch and eye flutter.

Personally I think the character on the left looks like what I wanted, I also was trying to see how much detail I could still get in the darker areas. There also feels like a lot of graininess to it.

I also played with Master Pedestal settings, and in post with brightness and contrast. None of these made it much better to my eyes.

I know folks here luuuv picking these things apart, so have fun.

I apologize in advance for making you look up Cthulhu's nose. Some heathen dropped him and broke his tentacles. That person has subsequently been dealt with, during the Eldritch Forces Polka Jamboree and Sacrificial Orgy.

can't you make it larger please? thx

oh, and people will take you more seriously and be quicker to critique you if you post a legit name on topic. i was expecting a picnic shoot or something and was a bit dissapointed.

Guess I can't modify the thread name. Maybe the moderator can just delete it and it repost with a better name?

_I_ will repost it with a better name, I mean.

Interesting.

Interesting is good! I was going for a lot of detail on the figure on the left, while seeing how much detail I could keep on the darker characters on the right.

I'm gearing up for a new project, where I'm planning on using a lot of shadow - a big lightsource from one side illuminating one side of the person's face, and a lot of shadow on the other side, with tight closeups.

since no one else is replying....the picture is very fuzzy and contrasty. was it cc'd or is this straight from the dvx?

No CC, straight from the DVX

There is a lot of fuzziness, I tried the tip from another thread, having a piece of text in front of the figures, then manually focusing. It still does seem fuzzy to me.

The camera was about 2 feet away, then I zoomed in a little.
