Fall Color

Hello all. I walked around the neighborhood for 20 minutes the other day and captured these shots. It was kind of a windy day so I thought it would be prime to shoot some of the fall foliage. I usually don't just walk around and shoot stuff like this but considering how much fun I had I suppose I should do it more often.

I didn't do any enhancing of the actual color at all. I gotta say though that I love this camera and it's ability to handle color and then the variable frame rate on top of that is just amazing.

Well Let me be the first to say good stuff. I would love to see an HOW TO: write up on tweening (right word?) the footage from B/W to Color, and also the selective color to full color:) Anyways, Freakin outstanding job.

Very nice Bluegrey. Did you at least boost the saturation in-camera? These are perfect colors.
Nice work!

Nope. Chroma phase, chroma level and color temp all at zero. This is just how the camera reads color under Cinelike-V. I think the kicker is when those colors stand out againt the black and white they just look unnatural.

Hey Surjones thanks for the compliment. I don't know what NLE you use but I use FCP and it's relatively easy. As for the selective color here's a great vid on how to do that http://www.proapptips.com/proapptip...11A/CD2733FE-EAAB-484D-B6C5-E2196B8026C9.html
Scroll down to "pleasentville effect"

And then after that the rest is really easy. On the timeline you just copy that particular clip and over lay it above the other. Then you just either fade it in or out depending on what you want. Since it's the same clip, just one without the color correction filter, they behave the same and it looks like your changing the colors of that one clip in mid stream where in reality you're fading from one clip to another.

Hope that helps.

Wow, bluegrey, that was really awesome. Very inspiring and creative, a nice variation on an old theme.

hey bluegrey, that was some really great footage. I have to ask, where was the music from, I thought it was great.

Great job! It's cool to have beauty pointed out to us in a subtle way. How did you do the fades from b/w to color?

Great stuff! Especially loved the shot of the tree fading to orange from the white leaves, I even paused it and pretended it was a paper tree. Could make a nice recycling ad ;)

I kind of gave a rundown on this in one of my earlier posts on this thread. Hope that helps.

I'm glad the rest of you liked it. The Music was by Mogwai by the way.
