Faking rain?

Hey guys, any suggestions on faking rain. I'm looking to do a closeup in the dark.

Why do you want to fake the rain when you can use natural rain? The garden hose might be helpful though.

The garden hose idea sounds like a good one. Especially for a closeup. You'll want to make sure to throw a back light behind the rain so that it shows up on video better.

That's what I meant :) I didn't mean in POST. The hose sounds like a good idea. We could spray it from over top the actor and the frame behind.

BUT we most likely will not have a garden hose laying around on our location though!

get you a couple hudson sprayers if all your doing is a close up. Remeber as horse said besure to back light it, other wise it won't show up. If you don't want back lighting then you can add a little powder milk and it'll paint from any light.

Because the weather control button on cameras still isn't standard?

that one made me chuckle a bit. :)

anyway, mini may be referring to POST rain (just a guess, mini!). As far as fake rain goes, I think you generally just want to find some sort of hose/spray device, LOTS of water, and try to get a good, even spray. No thick streams of water. Do anything you can to separate the water coming out into what appears to be a mist of rain drops.

And the tips on milk powder and back lighting are very good. You just want to make sure that the rain is at least a little visible.
