'failed import due to incomplete or corrupt clips' ???!!!

O.k., trying to dump p2 into FCP ver 5.0.4. on PB 15' Aluminum os 10.4.5.

Works fine if importing from the p2 card.

But copy the p2 cards contents to ext HD, (created folder and named same as card)
copied 'Contents & lastshot.txt' (same as if were p2 card).

Then try and import into FCP, we get the 'failed to import due to incomplete or corrupt
clips' warning. Which is strange, as can see the names and frames same as was on p2
card we just imported. Tried just one clip, or import all, same deal.

Any thoughts? Seemed to work fine yesterday when we were testing.

im not sure exactly, but the same program you put on your computer to read the P2 card, i think you need to put on the harddrive as well. But i could be wrong, its just what i have heard.

So, having done what we're trying successfully yesterday, tried EXACTLY what worked
before. And---

works fine if I copy the p2 card to the PBook desktop, (into a folder called p2 dump)
then will import fine into FCP.

But do the same thing to an external HD, and get the 'damaged or incoplete' warning.

Could it be...uh, I dunno.

Thoughts.

After you've copied the footage to an external hard drive, will it import correctly if you copy it back to the desktop first before importing?

There's a post in another forum about a problem specifically with certain hard drives, in that post the problem was one by Other World Computing. Not sure if it's limited to that brand or not, but I've had the same problem when trying to import from my OWC RAID. Very strange...
