Fader ND - Thoughts/Opinions

[Jean Dantes]

Hey guys, I finally ordered my 7D and Sigma 30mm f1.4, and I'm now looking at ND filters. I came across the Fader ND:

Does anyone here own one of these? If so, how does it perform? Will I lose image quality by using this product?

Thanks in advance to any replies

Yeah it's a popular product on here, do some searching and you'll find loads of threads w/info, thoughts etc.

I myself have two and am very fond of them.

What Andrew said times two. I find it invaluable with the GH1, as I'm certain it would be on a 7D.

yeah it's one of the things that I always bring with me in my camera bag, especially if I know I'll be shooting in daylight. I did notice some green light leaks a few times but I think that's because I was using two step up rings instead of one and they might not have been that tight.

I have one and like it just fine. If you do some lab tests, I'm sure there'll be some degradation in quality, since you're essentially stacking two filters on top of your lens. On 7D videos, though, I doubt you'll ever see it.
