Facebook Fail

Not just a Facebook thing...I once wrote something in an online journal that I had *thought* was secure (because the site operator used words like 'access to your journal is secure') regarding a show I was about to start...

...and suddenly I'm getting phone calls from the studio wondering if I 'happen to know anything' about that journal entry, and having to meet with Labor Relations (studio's lawyers, my union rep, the whole nine yards) to explain myself...

But yes, shenanigans.

Haha. I sent MY boss a friend request and literally right after I clicked the button I started having second thoughts and was like, **** that was stupid. But then again it is a part time job and my boss is pretty cool. But still.

I don't see the big deal of being facebook friends with the boss.

People knew how to vent frustration, complain to friends, and talk sh*t before the internet was invented... so I expect that people who lack the common sense and self control to understand that facebook is more of a public forum, deserve such reprimands. Facebook is not your diary, it's not confession, and it's not off the record. Why is it so hard to figure this?

It's the constant narcissistic ramblings of the youth which is what gets them in trouble. You don't have to complain to the internet every time you don't like something or have a thought. Twitter and facebook's status function is basically removing the filter/buffer zone between having a thought and immediate social expression of said thought.

Yeah, I don't vent on FB about work stuff. I have a fake Twitter account for that.

See that is what I am talking about... why do we NEED the internet to vent? What happened to the good old days where we keep it bottled inside eventually taking it out on our spouse and children, or roaming the roof of our workplace with a semi automatic?

*sigh*

does that mean I need to start allowing you to make personal attacks and such on the boards for the protection of your family?

:)

Later,
Jason

Why were both those posts by the boss' almost the same?

Robbie

I believe many of these Facebook "fails" are staged. A recent one on failblog.org featured an engaged woman thanking a guy for the night before, only to realize she had posted it on her own wall instead of in a personal message.

Too vulgar for the forums. Worth a chuckle.

I also enjoy textsfromlastnight.com, although I think many of those are fake.
