I couldn't find this info anywhere so I weighed all the different parts of the camera. I did this because I am getting a Movi and didn't know if the F5 would be under the 5 pound limit or not... so while I was at it, I measured a bunch of items and just posted it on one of my web sites. Just in case you ever need the info, here it is....

You probably don't need it, but I wanted to share

FYI there was mention of a lead for the R5 recorder

I would see keeping the power and ideally the recorder off any motion rig as the ideal configuration..

I seem to recall you mentioning that you have cronic pain issues. If they are in your back, lower back area, I would counsel you to try a MOVi out first weighted up. Assuming you go forward with it, you will have to budget 4 to 12 grand for a Wireless Follow Focus kit, as well as a directors style monitor to strap to the wireless follow focus and a wirless broadcast unit like a Paralinx or a Teradek unit to broadcast from the MOVi setup to the person pulling focus. You are now in the 12 to 20 grand range just for the extras I just mentioned.

As someone who has operated steadicam (similar in many ways to the MOVi) for a number of years, the initial rig in only a small part of the cost of operation.

Also, be aware that product/category shifting announcements often come up at the NAB Tradeshow in early April. Many in the video business stop buying gear in the first quarter of the year to see what shakes down at NAB.

Many folks have determined to pick up an Easyrig to use for supporting the Movi and camera rig set up.

Could you please show us who may have attempted such a set up (movi + easyrig)? That sounds like a promising configuration.

Here's some video. The hand held portion with Easy Rig is in the last minute. It is quite good id say. There is a fair bit of configuration options for the Easy Rig so you may want some consultative approach if planning to purchase one or both if these products. http://www.cinema5d.com/?p=21510. There are a few other images and reviews on line. A client of mine called yesterday about this same configuration.

Thanks for the info about the costs of getting into the movi products in terms of extra costs - No question it is an investment and a half, but I was really impressed with the results I've seen in tests and especially in the videos by Vincent Larofet. (no matter what your personal views of him are). I say this because some people roll their eyes when I say his name - but I am such a noob that I guess I still like his blog, style, results, etc. Maybe it's like a professional pilots rolling their eyes when they see Iron Eagle or Top Gun - but deep inside we all over those movies anyway :)

I was looking at getting a taredek down the road and being inventive with the focus at first, smaller aperture, film the item farther away with a slightly longer lens, keep at a steady distance, and then get into the Odyssey 7 with a taredek and wireless follow focus in about a year or so (or whenever my wife is looking the other way LOL)

As for using an easy rig, I was already thinking about buying one of these for use with the Movi- my back is totally boned - I was only going to use the Movi for a few shots and really focus on tripod/dolly shots as much as possible.

In the mean time - despite the fact it's turned into a discussion of easy rig, taradek, moviM5, I just wanted to post the weights in case someone else needed it for some reason since I didn't see the info anywhere else online.
