What was her face registering on your waveform? It looks way over for s-log to me. And I dont mean to sound like Im picking on you but that looks like an issue to my eyes. Also the white girl has almost no color at all in her skin.
Hi Vince, no worries. It was around 40% on waveform shot in slog3, then pushed a couple stops in post. The artist liked the punched up grade, me too, but it is a bit on the hot side.
That white girl was pale as casper in real life too but didn't get a lot of love in post.
It strikes me as a little DSLR looking for some reason but if that's what they like...
I had to deal with a ghostly female like that recently in a feature grade. We ended up isolating her in Color for a couple shots with overcast skies which exagerrated her lack of color, and tracking her face with a bubble of extra saturation around her head. She looked super white like that otherwise. Later in the shoot, the same actress had a massive pimple appear on her face which really stood out from the white. We did the same thing on the moving pimple but instead desaturated the red and tried to match the surrounding skin. It worked pretty well!
I will check my master, maybe it got "enhanced" it on YouTube. It does like brighter than I recall and YouTube can do some weird things. I might upload a DPX still if anyone wants to play with it, I put a few compressed stills through film emulation LUTs on the http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?325811-Revenge-of-the-Film-Emulation-LUTs-on-the-Sony-F55 thread and posted them there. You can see something a little more normal looking there.
With the white girl too, she was closer to the light source than the male actor and I didn't have any nets with me at all (tisk tisk I know) so being pale also didn't help.
Regarding pimples, I don't know if you use AE or not, but once I had the same issue and I came up with a way in After Effects to animate the source point from the clone tool which works really great for actors who's heads are moving around the frame and you still need to conceal something like a pimple or whatever.
