Had some time today to do a IR Test.

P.S. Good F5-55 trick/protection. Buy a clear screen saver for a cell phone, cut it to size and put on F55's LCD side panel to protect screen. Works nice.

Geoff Boyle on CML mentioned the other day that the built in NDs seem to have fine IR filtering, but the clear is not filtering IR.

To which he asked, why didn't they put an IR filter in the clear position? Probably an answer for it, but I don't know what it would be.

To my understanding, the muddy red/brown blacks seen on EX's, F3 and I guess a little on the 5/55 is more of a case of "Far red" contamination then IR like you would get from heavy ND. The Tiffen T1 filter is intentionally a little greenish and needs to be white balanced for as Jason points out. IR filters do help with far red, however the T1 filter was made for it. I NEVER leave home without it. Nice test Jason!
