Hi all,
as i'm playing round with V3.0 i'd like to share this - once more -
unscientific new STRESSTEST of V3.0 HFR
4 clips with/without 2k filter - Center Scan on/off
*Observations:
this is a stresstest. worst possible scenario. intentional!
1.: forget Center Scan mode with the 2k OLPF installed. period.
2. 4k full scan filter looks sharpest (which actually technically it isn't - lots of info about why in the net) -
but at the expense of quite some aliasing.
3. 2k OLPF Full Scan vs 4k OLPF Center Scan: well, not too bad. i think i'll stick to the 4k OLPF as they're close.
Drawbacks:
*apparently any wider lens in center scan mode will struggle more to get a sharp image than
it's full scan equivalent for simple build reasons - the 16mm is not as sharp as the 35mm -
but a comparison between the samyang 85mm in fullscan with a Samyang 35mm in center mode might be fairly close.
*there's more noise in center scan mode. but not that a bad thing.
4. 4k OLPF Full Scan.
perceived as sharpest. has less noise than 4k Center Scan. Quite some aliasing -
but: Comparing to 2K OLPF Full Scan one might get away with applying some blur / aliasing filters
not an elegant solution, but it might safe your neck sometimes...
so, which leaves me leaning towards sending my 2K OLPF test unit back...
cheers!
