F55: F5 & FS7: LUT's locked out of color controls

Erik,
Try to explain to him the importance about being able to white balance and see the picture whenever you mix lights, deal with fluorescents or LED's, or want to do anything that is a little off the beaten track. Also let him know that RED and Alexa both offer this and we don't want to be explaining to our clients why they can't see a decent picture.

I've thing I have found myself doing is using my color meter and my bi-color LEDs (with green and magenta gels) to match whatever crazy mixed lighting I happen to be shooting in. Some of my "bread and butter" stuff is corporate doc stuff and this yields the best results. Not being able to dial in white balance adds an extra annoying step in post to correct white balance that I could have set properly in the field. I do my best to avoid that "fix it in post" mentality, but CineEI being locked to 3200/4300/5500 is making me fall back into it.

Yeah I may have to alter my methods as well. one trick might be to light in Custom or even standard gammas, then switch to sLog & Cine EI to shoot. At least you can get the colors right first.
I find that color meters are not very accurate in dealing with LED's or Fluorescents. I like to play with color and am used to to having all the tools at my fingertips to dial it right in on the monitor. Of course I couldn't do it in film, but in those days I never dealt as much with Flos or certainly LED's. Most of my film work was more theatrical so it was easier to just stick with known sources.
