This product looks very good....
I went to their website and checked out the rig/rigs for the F3, and I like the fact that there's no camera modification required to fit the "cage" for that camera. Has anyone on this forum used or bought any of their kit for the F3?

Having felt the F5 (admittedly without the separate recorder), I'm not sure that shoulder pad would need to go quite a bit further forward before it balanced like a true shoulder mount?

Shoulderpad needs to move a lot further forward if you don't want to have to add counterweights, but perhaps it's adjustable and can slide forward somewhat. Looks like a solid piece of kit at any rate.

Looks like the photo's were from the Band Pro Film & Digital open house in December. A couple more shots of the F5/F55 kit here. The shoulder pad portion of the kit does have a set of rods that allows it to slide fore and aft a certain amount. With the top handle, iris rod holders and center rail removed you can under-sling on steadicam or jib arm of some kind. It is solid kit.

I would personally want to give that a try. From my handling of the F5 that I had here a few days, I would feel much more comfortable with shoulder pad directly beneath camera. That's how Sony's is engineered as well as the Shape 7000, which will work with F5. But I really like that cage.

It doesn't look that much more 'portable' than my current F3 set up, still a big rig to cart around.

Some of these companies are going out of their way to make things look "big and bad" like Red. I myself get tired of that after about hour 4 on a handheld day.

Arri has a really nice baseplate system they just unveiled:

I note that they put almost half the baseplate as far forward as possible to help balance. The shoulder pad removes separately and quick-attatches to the base of the camera directly, just like they did with the 435 (incidentally one of my fav handheld cameras ever)

That looks much more to my taste, simple and streamlined, with the shoulder pad where it needs to be.

While the F5/F55 mass has not been noted by SONY yet from holding the cameras the F3 body does feel like a heavier camera body. With the increased codec support in recording formats the F5/F55 gives the opportunity to shoot to higher bandwidth / lower compressed formats internally. No need for add on recorders for 422 or 50MB minimum recordings. If you want you can loose all the cage system and just go with a base plate / shoulder pad kit and stay with the stock top handle to minimize mass and overall size.

Yea that movcam shoulder pad is in a wacky position.
Can't imagine the need for a cage most of the time...but that top plate looks tasty.
