F5 and F55 detailed specifications (thanks to Sony Europe)

Some interesting screenshots. One example... Proper mounting holes on the bottom: both 1/4" 20 and 3/8" 16 which appear to be with ARRI spacing. Another example that they listened to their users and acted this time.

I think that is wrong, F55 is 1250 and F5 is 2000.

I also want to know if these values are SLOG2 or standard gamma modes for XAVC, etc..

If they are indeed SLOG2 based, then the real ISO's are HALF those values. If they are standard gamma values, then SLOG2 are actually DOUBLE.

some source said basic ISO of F55 is 1600 when recording raw to R5.

1250, 1600, 2000, i'm confused.

I don't know if that is wrong, but the screenshot is from a Sony official document.

There is nothing official yet, only what has been said initially during the announcement which was:

F55 is 1250.
F5 is 2000.

But in Sony's live Facebook chat they said they were "working towards 2000 ISO on the F5" - which actually means there is no official ISO since they are still tweaking and optimizing the firmware likely to balance between signal to noise ratios and ISO values.

Time will tell.

F55 may use some techs from F65's sensor. Those techs may enhance sensitivity of its sensor, and give it wider color gamut(ACES) and higher basic ISO compared to F5's traditional bayer sensor, which inherit from F3's.

higher ISO is useful especially when recording high fps videos. F55 can do up to 240fps, higher than F5's 120fps. One need to double ISO when double fps, so ISO 2000 is a good idea for F55

This is an excellent point, but conversely, a global shutter would seem to of greater importance when capturing fast moving objects, as may frequently be the case with high speed photography.

I suppose we'll have to wait for actual footage to how much these elements really end up mattering.

I think it's pretty clear that it is just a typo (reversed) in Fillipo's slide.

There are just too many other different sources that all have it the other way around.

Raw recording is in something called Cinema EI mode, and the ISO goes to 1600. What has been announced so far is ISO2000 for F5 and ISO1250 for F55. I have still not been able to confirm whether this reflects S-Log2. I do know that the engineers are tweaking the cameras. We may hear more at Sony's LA roll-out on 11/28 which I will not attend since neither Sony nor my editors have offered to pick up the airfare (first class, of course). There will be a NYC roll out in Dec and Peter told me they are still working on a date.

Ned I sent you a cheque for $10 dollars. Can you please reveal the price of the F5 & F55 now confidentially of course?

I honestly have not been told the price nor, to the best of my knowledge, has any journalist. They may or may not have briefed dealers. I also believe quite honestly they are still working on pricing models. Please make certain it is $10 Cdn which I'm trusting a lot more than US $ these days.

Raw recording is in something called Cinema EI mode,

Effectively this is just like Red. Sensor never gets gain applied to it, just image processing gain in-camera for monitoring, and the setting gets written in metadata to be used in post.

Same as the implementation on the F3, except there's now metadata to follow the file through post. Very important.
