F35 Shutter

Hey guys its been a while since I posted anything here but I have sort of a problem and could use your help. So, I go in to swap out the nikon to pl mount on the F35 and everything goes smoothly as it always does. I turn the camera on and everything is fine until I look to view the image on the O7Q+...Well, I wasn't getting an image at all. Just a black screen. I got into the Diagnosis menu and everything checks ok! I started to freak out so I stripped everything back down to make sure that the Optical block was properly connected and it was. Nothing broken at all. Well now Im really scared! So I take the lens off, look at the sensor and noticed that the shutter doors are closed while the camera was on...Super Scared now!!! I triple check the Optical Block's cables once again and still everything checks ok. Long story short I go into the F35's manual and read page 127 that states how to open the shutter in case its stuck. I follow the instructions and Presto...the doors open! Now Im back up and running and I even check through all the shutter angles and everything seems to be running smoothly but now the shutter doors stay open when the camera's off. I know this camera doesn't have a mechanical shutter so now I'm curious as to whats the purpose for the doors in the first place and should I be super worried if everything works ok even though they won't close?

Please feel free to shed any light on the matter guys (MacGregor, Igor, Ed David, Hunter, Jo) Anybody? Thanks in advance

Same here...no clue. If you're OCD you might want to get it fixed, but I have a feeling it might be fine being open all the time.
Good luck!

I'am extremely OCD but I'm also trying to avoid spending too much money right now as well. Maybe I'll leave it and just keep an eye out on it. Thanks for responding though guys! At least now Im not the only one who was without a clue on this matter. If I find something informative on the matter I'll keep you guys posted.

The shutter closes during black balance and protects the sensor from stray light when the camera is off.

it should open and close normally, presumably a connection has been severed. It is not as critical as the rotary shutter in the F65 - or as complex!

Ahhhh I see!!!! makes perfect sense. Thanks a ton JMtheDP!! I guess I'll just have to black balance with the PL cap on and now I just need to make sure Im extra careful about keeping the sensor covered. You're AWESOME JMtheDP
