F35 DIY doorway dolly

Many ways to construct ties...but dang the JUNCTIONS when using PVC pipe are always a pain...

My solution was to just use two reeeeeally long pipes and make the guy with the biggest truck drive them to the set.
[Okay, okay...yes, I know that's no solution at all!]

But tracks aside...that's a great looking dolly you've built.

I have a very similar setup - if you just need to move in a straight line, those types of dolly are perfect.

For tubing I used the plumber's PVC pipe too, for junctions I found a local precision engineer and I got them to make me some aluminium bars which neatly sleeve into the pipes - they are glued in one end so everything just slots together.

I have a dozen sections of piping, each 1.5m long so I can make about 6m of track.

Thank you all for your comments. James for the junctions I did the exact same thing as you did but with plastic tube inserts instead of aluminum.

I'll do a few tweaks to the tracks this weekend and will post the results.

Cheers.
Igor

as we're speaking about solutions... here is my "heavy" track and dolly setup: semi-diy, as i did the CAD stuff and a friend built it:

6m of aluminium tracks, 1.5m each, screwable, tracks pack up into one bag, weights around 40kg total.

on my website, the 2nd header pic that fades in shows the whole setup.

Dolly looks nice igor but it make me nervous see F35 on that tripod. Looks weak.
