F35 and traveling -> regarding security checking (X-ray, metal detectors, etc)

HI all,

traveling to london very soon, and taking my F35 with me.
I'm going with the eurostar, apparently they do X-ray scanning (I called them).
Also the girl on the phone could not guarantee that they would be okay with hand-checking it.

Was wondering if these security checks are harmful for the camera? I asked some persons privately and they said it could.
But I couldn't find any clear info on the net. (I do know it's harmful for our health and body)

Any experiences? Any (additional) info? Solutions?

X-Rays won't harm a camera sensor. Gamma rays can harm a CMOS sensor, but the F35 is a CCD. And short of only traveling by boat there's nothing you could do to protect from gamma radiation anyway.

The F35 is pretty hefty and I doubt you will be able to hand-carry it. Just put it in a proper hard case with sufficient padding and off you go.

By hand-carry you mean the restrictions of Eurostar? Or you mean for myself?
I keep & transport my F35 package in one large pelicase (b&w outdoor brand) with wheels. I do hope London loves elevators :)
 
I'm referring to the restrictions on Carry-on luggage by most transport systems. I think that Eurostar may classify luggage in a manner similar to airlines. A carry-on bag can be a certain small size and weight, plus one "personal item" such as a briefcase or purse. Anything bigger than that goes into cargo, which means that whether you're on a plane or a train it is going to be handled by the careless gorillas of baggage handling and not by you.

It appears that they don't care about weight but they do care about size.
