F3 xd cam converter size of files question

Hello, I have been shooting with a rented F3, first time working with this camera and codec. I am using FCP and importing the files with XDcam transfer. I noted that the size of the original F3 files is like three times bigger than equivalent imported file. Is this normal or a loss of quality? Am i doing something wrong ?,
