F3: F3 on custom gimbal

Thought I'd share a first look at the 3 axis gimbal test with my stripped down F3. I'm looking forward to using it for an upcoming commercial.

Sorry for the crap iPhone photo - having too much fun running around to take other pics. Total weight with gimbal is 10lbs and entirely manageable for longer takes. - just have to keep doing those push-ups :)

Nice rig but I think you'll find it too heavy for a full day of shooting. Either way let us know how it went and your experiences with it using the F3.

Shoot went great! Used the gimbal for 4 scenes over an hour. I wouldn't want to do more than that without another operator at the ready. There's no way it'd be enjoyable for a whole day. I was glad for the opportunity to try it out on this shoot. Using a smallHd 4" monitor via hdmi out is the best way to see what's happening as oppose to the F3 LCD. It's very tough to see that LCD in bright daylight. I'll post the commercial when I get approval.
I'm still debating getting an X-10 arm to use with my HD4000 Glidecam in the future and add the A7S for flying scenes. This looks to be a great B-cam for the F3.

Nice work but looks a little high. It's one reason I've ordered the Letus Helix which unlike just about every other gimbal, flies the camera from below. Probably a bit more expensive than your one though!

Let us know how you get on with the Helix. I was just borrowing this gimbal. I saw the Letus demo video at Nab and it looks very interesting. I like that you can hold it with your elbows close to your sides for lengthier shoots.

I like it as Letus will be selling a "4th-axis" mount which will mount on a Steadicam arm and completely remove the "walkiness" many gimbals exhibit. With a max payload of 20lb, this might be a necessity! Over on the REDuser, Hien, the Helix designer, has been phenomenal in doing last minute design changes and feeding back responses every day since NAB. I'm very confident about the Helix. It's been a much more open and smoother interaction than the DJI Ronin and BeSteady development process. They are shipping in just a few weeks.

Of the course the Helix will also work without the Steadicam component like a traditional gimbal. Hien is saying the Helix will have the most powerful motors in the gimbal market on it when it ships.

can u post the link about the helix on reduser. im on batch one list aswell and cant wait to get it!!!
