Since purchasing the EXMount last year I have been a huge advocate of the mount as the perfect solution for the EX3. On a whim, I decided
to test out my EXMount at a few local rental houses with an F3 to see if it could turn the F3 into a viable shoulder mounted camera. I was pleasantly surprised.
While not the perfect solution (I had to remove the accessory plate), the base plate connection is solid enough to make it viable. The DIonic 90 at the back
provides fairly good backweight even for the Red 50mm prime (pictured).
I mounted the F3 on a Zacuto mini-baseplate and then onto the EXMount. While it still leaves questions (where to mount an external recorder? how to best deal
with an EVF?) it solves a bunch of issues. I alerted Mark (of EXMount) to this experiment and we discussed possibilities for an F3 mod of an EXMount which would
really be fantastic (no pressure, Mark).
Anyway, just brainstorming here...
