I tried using a ki mini pro today and could not get it to trigger with the f3.
I had remote trigger on and checked all the other settings. the ki and camera were
both in 1080 23.98 psf.

when I could not get the KMP to trigger i hooked it up to a panny 1710 to see if there was TC in the stream and the monitor and there was not.

any clues?

I haven't used the F3 with a Ki Pro Mini, but I have used it with a Ki Pro, rental until recently. I couldn't get the SDI trigger flag to fire on the Ki Pro. So no sync recording. But, the TC went through fine over HD-SDI in 1080 23.98PsF. On the Ki Pro you have to set the timecode to come from the SDI port.

This might sound weird, but I read somewhere that embedded TC is not in the HD-SDI spec. I may be wrong.

I have used the F3 with the Nanoflash and it triggered fine through hdsdi - I would first look at your settings on the Kipro mini.

I know for a fact that the F3 sends timecode over HD-SDI. I've used it with the Ki Pro (original, not mini).

What I did not get to work with the Ki Pro was the record trigger. I had both devices set for it, but the Ki Pro clearly couldn't read the incoming record flag. That said, it was a rental, and the firmware may have been out of date.

You have to set the f3's timecode type to rec run, not free run or clock. Otherwise it's constantly throwing changing timecode and the ki has no idea when to trigger

No TC over HDMI would mean it is impossible to remotely trigger the Ninji 10-bit recorder. It needs LANC which the F3 doesn't haqve. This leaves the outboard recorder market a bit lean until later US summer when the Sound Design, Gemini, Samurai, etc come out.
